I was invited to replicate a stunning 17th Century nightcap held in the collection of the Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK for Phillipa Turnbull’s All England Part 1 Tour in May 2018. This beautiful Elizabethan embroidery is the result. It is worked in silk and metal threads on linen using a range of Elizabethan stitches.
Three hanging ornaments were also created – inspired by the designs on the cap. This kit has been produced by kind permission of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and proceeds from each kit help to support the vital care and conservation of the Shakespeare Houses and the treasures in their Collection.
These pieces are available as a kit for December 2018 only from Phillipa’s website: www.crewelwork.com
