Coral Reef is back on the website after being away for a year due to teaching commitments.
This piece mixes Goldwork, Stumpwork and creative embroidery and is worked on hand dyed silk habutai – a large range of techniques and stitches are employed to create the underwater paradise. Techniques include padding with felt, needle lace, using Goldwork sadi threads, using creative elements such as organza, silk cocoons, silk rods, mulberry bark and emu feathers.
The kit contains a huge range of threads and fibres – sadi threads, Stef Francis braided silks, Cottage Garden Threads overdyed cotton, Colourstreams silk, memory thread and Mill Hill beads.
