Description
Delft Tulip Tile was inspired by the beautiful historical Delft blue and white tiles and it was designed specially for a retreat at The Hague, Netherlands, for Creative Experiences in March/April 2026. I had great fun researching these tiles and fell down a rabbit hole! I absolutely fell in love with a scalloped border that I found on a number of tiles and just had to incorporate it into my design. I also added a touch of gold sparkle to my design – something that is definitely not on the original tiles!
This is a great project for those that are beginners to Goldwork or Stumpwork – using a range of relatively simple stitches to create the design in four shades of blue silk (Gumnuts Yarns and Au Ver a Soie) and English gilt metal threads.
