This kit has been a long time coming! Raven’s View was designed by my graphic artist daughter Bek while she was at university and stitched by me on and off over the past eighteen months! Thanks to lockdown, I finally finished stitching the design! Raven’s View has been designed to go with another of Bek’s designs, Through Grandma’s Window https://alisoncoleembroidery.com.au/product/through-grandmas-window/. She designed a third piece to complete the set which I am yet to stitch…
I have decided that this project will join my ‘Extreme Embroideries’ range as it has so much in it! For a relatively small design – 13.5cm diameter, Raven’s View features a large range of Stumpwork techniques: padding withe felt and soft cotton, needle lace, detached petals and leaves, working slips, laid silk wrapped purl and all highlighted with some Goldwork, garnets, mother of pearl beads and a charm.
It also features a huge range of threads: Au Ver a Soie silk, Gumnut Yarns Stars silk, Colourstreams silk, Cascade House silk, Silk Chenille, Waterlilies Silk, Cottage Garden threads stranded cotton, DMC stranded cotton, silk gimp, silk wrapped pearl purl and Madeira metallic thread.
The design is worked on a background of silk dupion. As always, the kit contains all threads, fabrics, beads, wires etc to work the design.
